South East European markets headed into the weekend mostly in the green on Friday, in line with rest of Europe. Istanbul led the gains in the SEE region with the BIST 100 up 1.91%, followed by Athens where the General Index advanced 1.73% and Zagreb’s Crobex which added 0.99%. In Romania, where the BET index added 0.75%, the statistics office INS revealed the country’s economy increased by 5.9% in 2021, after contracting by 3.7% in the previous year. Meanwhile, the National Bank of Romania’s foreign exchange reserves stood at EUR 40,143 million in March, compared to EUR 41,877 million in February.
