Stocks in South East Europe closed lower on the final trading day of the first half of the year after the release of new economic data and amid different reactions to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit. Declines in the region and rest of Europe came as world market sentiment remains gloomy as worries about prolonged inflation leading to a global economic downturn persist. Romania’s BET index led the losses in the region.  CFA Romania financial analysts expect the Romanian leu to drop to an average of 5.1125 units to the euro in the next 12 months, while the estimated inflation rate will hit on average 9.50%, a new all-time high since the launch of the monthly poll CFA has conducted for over ten years.
