US

Fewer American businesses are feeling the United States economy is or will fall into a recession this year, according to a survey conducted by the National Association of Business Economics (NABE). The data showed improving business sentiment with the overall chance for a recession in the US landing at 56%.

MALAYSIA

Malaysia’s consumer price index, or CPI, climbed 3.8% year-on-year in December, following November’s 4.0% increase, data from the Department of Statistics showed.

DENMARK

Denmark’s consumer confidence index rose to -26.1 in January from -28.9 in December, figures from Statistics Denmark showed on Monday.

HONG KONG

Hong Kong’s consumer price index, or CPI, climbed 2.0% year-over-year in December, slower than the 1.8% stable rate of rise in November. Economists had forecast inflation to climb slightly to 1.9%.

GREECE

Greece’s current account deficit widened sharply in November from the last year, according to the Bank of Greece. The current account gap rose to EUR 3.93 billion from EUR 2.74 billion in the previous year.
