Equities in South East Europe finished in a mixed fashion on Wednesday in cautious trade as rest of Europe closed sharply lower. Weak German data, uncertainty ahead of Sunday’s first round presidential vote in France and hawkish comments from US Federal Reserve Governor Lael Brainard weigh on sentiment. Brainard signaled the US central bank is ready to take stronger action to curb inflation and Germany factory orders declined for the first time in four months in February largely driven by the fall in foreign demand.
